Ocean’s Away

In order to care about something, to really care about its wellbeing, some emotional connection is necessary. We protect what we care about which is why images are so significant for the environmentalist movement. This world is amazing, and flat images will never measure up to breathing in salty air but they have their own kind of life.

I love water, I always have. I grew up on the prairies, which have their own kind of fluidity but the ocean has come to be more of a home to me. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that my move to the West Coast and my increasing interest in photography happened at the same time. I learned to explore this place through pictures.
